TILL WE LEAVE ON VACATION!!!
Soooo excited!!!
Thank you so much mom and dad! We can't wait to leave. Kellan keeps asking me everyday when he wakes up, "mom, can I go on a long drive with you and dad?" How funny; he has absolutely no clue how boring the drive it going to be. He is just excited to leave on a trip with us.
Today was a big day for me...nothing but deep cleaning around the house, laundry, cleaning out cabinets, scrubbing bathrooms and more laundry. I have always loved coming home to a spotless home after a long time away, so that was the goal today. Mission accomplished and its only 3pm! I also made a trip to WalMart in search of some items for our trip. I bought the kids these things called critter pillows. They are little caterpillar pillows that wrap around their necks while they are sleeping in the car. They both kept them on the whole time we were in the store and you wouldn't believe the number of old people (sorry Grandma and Grandpa!) that stopped and made some funny comment about their pillows. Seriously, the store was infested with older people today and they just love little kids. One man started following me down an isle so that he could stop me and say something to the kids in a Donald Duck voice. I have an uncle, Uncle John, who does the best Donald Duck impression and this guy came pretty close. Both Kellan and Ella looked at this man like he was crazy, didn't laugh at him at all and then when he started to walk away Ella cried. I appreciated all of the comments, looks and laughs, however, I was on a mission and therefore, I didn't like the idea of stopping to entertain comments. This is an area that I need to work on. I do believe God brings people across our paths for a reason, and for whatever reason, I always seem to find a way to leave or ignore strangers in the store when they approach us. I have gotten much better...there is still quite a bit of room for improvement! So, if you see me in the store, try stopping me for a chat...I need the testing!
We are all ready to go, maps packed and coolers prepared. We leave Saturday after work and we are hoping to do most of the 16-17 hour drive through the night so the kids can sleep. I bought Brian and I a bunch of energy bars, energy drinks and some Dr. Pepper. If for some reason we can't make it all of the way through, we have mapped out a few places along the way that we can stop. I hate the idea of stopping at a random motel/hotel however. I have seen way too many scary movies involving highway motels and for those of you who know me, I tend to struggle with fear. So, I am praying we can make it the whole way without stopping and get to our destination just in time to take a long nap. We plan on spending a few days with my family in Arcadia and visiting Disney Land and then we will hit the beach and spend the rest of our time in Palm Dessert (112 degrees today)! Pool time will be essential.
